Save energy when cooking hamburgers

by thomas on April 23, 2009

If you like hamburgers, here’s a quick tip for saving energy while cooking them:

Poke a small hole in the center of each hamburger before putting them into the frying pan or on the grill.

This lets more heat enter the hamburger in a shorter period of time, making it cook faster – saving energy in the process. The hole will seal up while cooking.

As an added bonus, it’s easier to get the hamburger cooked properly all the way through – which should be a priority if you want to kill various unpleasant bacteria that might make your tummy ache (or worse).

This tip should work equally well on anything made from minced meat. Don’t do it while cooking unprocessed meat, though, as it will end up dry and chewy.
